What do I need to get DVD'S to play.

I installed a Creative model DVD5240E but nothing happens when a DVD is inserted or using Windows Media Player. It reads CD's OK.

    Thanks in advance

What DVD are you trying to play? You may be missing some codecs, DVD may be set to a different region, etc. More info is needed.

To play a DVD in the Windows player you need a plug-in. Look here for the plug-in and it looks as if you need XP to use it. If you got a retail boxed DVD-ROM most companies include a software player like Power DVD or WinDVD, that will play a DVD.
