    Hello,

I am hoping someone knows what I am trying to do.

Here is what I have. Windows XP running in Fusion on a Mac. Now I have a USB microphone hooked up for taking VoIP calls in Windows and it works fine but, I have a recording.. a greeting I made that I would like to play through the microphone pickup on the headset. This is so I dont have to keep repeating myself all the time.

I hope that makes sense. Does anyone know how to do this?

You cannot play a sound through the microphone. The microphone only detects sound - it doesn't, indeed cannot, create sound.

    Welcome to WindowsBBS;)

You could play the recording and place the microphone near a speaker.

Thank you and I know that! I am looking for something a tad less physical work on my part :p

I have to repeat my greeting about 20+ times a day.. to be able to press a button adn do it for me would be WAY nicer.

    Any other suggestions?

    Hmm.. I dont think so.

Its a voip phone but one that is totally work based. I dont think its even a typical voip system to be honest.

Thats why I was looking for something that will play sound files through the mic in channel.

    A mic doesn't "play sound ".

A microphone changes sound waves into an electrical current.

A loudspeaker changes those electrical signals back into sound waves.

This is exactly the reason that voice mail or message machines exist.

If you actually take the call, and then have to speak the same long "promotion or spiel ", you could play the recording back using a media player and put the mic close enough to the speakers, or you could upload the recording to a Website and give the caller a link to the recording.

A mic can have a second jack spiced into it and it could be connected to a sound card's line out input, but a phone may or may not be able to duplicate the signal into the format used by phones.

Okay I have a thought.. what about soft kind of software that can route a recording (speaker output) into the microphone channel? Like a free mixer maybe?

Why? A microphone doesn't make noise.

That would be like trying to route speaker output to say a keyboard or mouse. Why? They can't make noise either.
