I converted from 4.79 to 7.02, but in the process, I lost all my most recent mail and folders. Evidently, there was some old profile that was converted.

I know to go to File |New | Folder --- but I want it to go, alphebetically in the list of my other folders - i.e. as a main folder like Inbox, Drafts, Sent, Trash, etc. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

    Hi Roy,

I'm not clear on what you want to do:

I know to go to File |New | Folder --- but I want it to go, alphebetically in the list of my other folders - i.e. as a main folder like Inbox, Drafts, Sent, Trash, etc. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Could you expand on this a bit, please.

Do you want to retrieve your good Profile from 4.79? If you move all the 4.79 Profiles out of the Users Folder, with the exception of the "good" Profile, you can force 7.02 to convert your 4.79 Profile. Look in: C:\Program Files\Netscape\Users
    How many profiles are there?

    Hi Ramona,
I'd love to be able to get some stuff from my old 4.79, but I'm the one who wrote theadid 16388 and in your final answer on that question, it sounded almost impossible - and I've given up hope and plan to recreate everything and start fresh. :(
As to what I want to do with a new folder (actually I have several) is say it begins with "B" and I already have two folders beginning with that letter. I want to put this new one in proper alphebetical order right after the second "B" or (B2) - NOT as a subfolder of my Inbox. In other words, my folders would look like this:
    Trash
    B1
    B2
    B3 (NEW One)
    C
    F1
    F2
    etc.

On my old 4.79, it seems the new folders would just automatically drop into place and not give me all those choices to make. I've, I believe, tried them all without success.

As to your later question which I referred to at the beginning of this, I looked where you said and found only one profile, but when I double clicked on it there were folders called Archive, Cache, MAIL and News. The Mail does appear to have the folders I'm looking for. There is B1, B1 SNM File, B2,
B2 SNM File AND the B3, B3 SNM File I'm trying to create. :) (I think)

Now, how do I force 7.02 to convert this 4.79 Profile?

    Thanks!

Oh! The fun of working with a new system! Really, you are not trying to create the .snm files, because that was the format of the summary files for 4.x mail.
Anyway, and, sorry, I am not going to look at your original post, folders like you want are inactive(storage) ones. There no file extention to go with them. When you see them this way, they will be subfolders of the Inbox.
I got stuff from 4.78 or 9, by simply copying the files with no extention from the user profile of 4.79 to the Profile of NS7.x

    Hi Roy,
If those folders are in the
C:\Program Files\Netscape\Users Folder, then you have it made!

    Close Netscape:

    Open Windows Explorer
Make a new folder in your C:\ drive
Name it NSbackup or 4.79 backup , or whatever you wish
Copy the entire Communicator Users Folder to this backup folder

    Next:
    Open the Communicator Mail Folder
Copy the Files with NO SNM extensions
Paste the files with NO SNM extensions into your Netscape 7.02 Mail Folder
    C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename\*.slt\Mail\mailaccount

Let us know if this isn't clear.

    Roy,

To create new Folders, and have them appear in alpha order:

    Highlight your Account Name
    Then: File|New|Folder

The new Folder will appear after the "Trash" Folder, and will be placed in alpha order.
