I have a graphics viewer pinned to my start menu. The icon for the program (in the start menu) has an arrow that opens to 2 particular photos that I can open in that program. I want to be able to "pin" several different photos in that menu. I can't seem to be able to do it in any way, but open up one of those photos in the program, then drag the photo onto the program icon in the task bar. I find that this has the effect of pinning the program to my task bar. I then have to unpin the program from my taskbar. This seems a bit complicated.

I only want this program pinned to my start menu. See the red circle for the area where I want to add new photos in this screenshot. Is there a way I can drag the icon of a photo from Windows Explorer, and pin it directly to the shortcut in the start menu?

Just tried that. Unfortunately, I still can't pin any more new pics, nor am I seeing the recent items list or any recently opened pics there.

In the Customize start menu dialog, I have Recent Items checked. And at the bottom, I have Windows set to show the 5 most recent files.

And in the Start Menu properties dialog, in the Start Menu tab, I have under Privacy, checked the box for "store and display recent items in the start menu" or whatever it says.

I oked out, but still I can't see any recent files when I open a pic up in that program. I rebooted, but still can't see any recent files.

Actually at this point, I'm hoping for a different solution (than using the Recent Files option). When they enabled, I see recent files on every single icon in the task bar, which is a distraction.

If I can't do it any other way, I'll just form a folder on the taskbar for links to these pics, or else I'll just keep my graphics viewer icon pinned to the task bar. That seems to be the simplest option.
