Pictures only option is to save as BMP?

when I try to download a pic off of the net and I right click on it and go to "Save as" a box comes up and in the box it says " Untitled" for the name and for the " File type" is says BMP how can I change it??? BMP is the only option that I have


Please tell me what I can do to fix this

 

Is there other format options when you click on the little arrow to the right of the "save as type" button? This should reveal a dropdown menu and offer other extensions.

Also if you want to give this pic a name other than "untitled ", just highlight/delete the word "untitled" and type in "name of choice ".

 

Saving in bmp format only is a known issue with IE and emptying the browser's cache usually fixes the problem.

To empty the cache, open IE and go to Tools>Internet Options, click on the "Delete Files" button and see if that solves the problem.

If not, go to Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Disk Cleanup and let it clean up the drive, especially the "Temporary Internet" and "Temporary" files.

I just got delayed while trying to clean up a virus on another computer. My attention is divided between three computers, each with their own tasks in progress. I guess you could say I'm running at 33% speed.
