Picture CD won't play in DVD Player

I imported pictures from my digital camera into the xp my pictures and also into Picasa and then made a CD of the pictures. I tried to play on a DVD player but it won't play. Is there something I can try to have it work?

 

Does the DVD player support jpegs? Are the photos jpegs?

 

I went to Explore to check and the name is the title I gave the pictures such as Barcelona-1.jpg but under type it shows jpeg image. Each picture after the name is a number from 1 to 61.

We are staying at a place away from home, so the DVD is in the home and the label on it says DVD/CD player and MP3. It is an Emerson. We have played a movie DVD on it OK.

I found out through trial and error that not all DVD players will play photo CDs.

Also, if they are copied in filmstrip view, they will not play. They have to be viewed as icons when copied.
