photoshop stall

    i recently upgraded my ram to about 1 gig and everything seems to be running fine except photoshop. i have two 512 memory cards going and my photoshop actually is running slower and stalling more than when i had a total of only 700 megs of ram.
    i dont really understand the problem, but is there any way to streamline my laptop to run graphics programs more efficiently?
