shgen - Welcome to the Board :)

Are you installing from a genuine Adobe CD or from a copy? Your screenshot indicates a Chinese/Japanese version.

My recollection of Photoshop 7 - I have used all versions from 5.0 to CS2 which I currently run - is that the original release on CD was 7.0 and 7.01 was an update downloaded from the Adobe website. I may be wrong here, but I am curious.

So does the problem arise when installing 7.0 or the 7.01 update?

If you are installing from a genuine Photoshop CD and the problem arises there I would check that the CD is clean and undamaged. If you are having a problem with the update try a fresh download.

If you are installing from a copy or a pirated disk I regret that we cannot help you further.

Have you referred to the online help regarding the error number?

    Please clarify the situation.
