Does anyone have some info on running phdisk on notebook, partition sizes, ect. I'm putting in a 6gig h/d in an old NEC. I learned that nootbooks have a special partition for sudden shutdowns. Then I found this nootbook has an 8 meg memery card mounted under the h/d. Is this supposed to take the place of the 8 meg recomended partition? Maybe? I don't have (or can find) any info on this particular computer. Also, in order to run phdisk, I need to start at a dos prompt. The only way I've found to do this is put in a win me startup disk. I've downloaded boot disk for dos, win 95,win98, and me, but the only disk the system will recognise is the start disk from my wifes me computer (not mine). Why can't it read any other disk at boot up? I already know I need to replace the cmos battery. Is that having any affect on the startup? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
