pgate basic

i've been trying to get rid of this program called pgate basic. i ran adaware and spybot but the program is still there. Here is the log i have from hijack this.

if this is the bought version it's clean of adware. The free version is adware loaded and can stealth install other programs. If you wish to remove it then do it through add/remove programs and then have HijackThis fix this line...

Right click My Computer and choose properties. On system restore tab, check the box to turn off. OK out.

Go to start>run and type msconfig, hit enter. On the boot.ini tab, check the box next to /safeboot and OK. Yes to restart. This will restart your computer in safe mode.

Now in safe mode, you will need to show hidden files and folders.


Open C:\Program Files\WindowsSA rename (omniscient.exe to omniscient.old)
Open C:\Windows\System32 rename the file (wsaupdater.exe to wsaupdater.old)
Oped C:\Program Files\Common files\WinTools rename (WToolsA.exe to Wtoolsa.old)
Open C:\Windows\Temp, select all and delete.
Open C:\Documents and settings\username\Local Settings\temp, select all and delete. Do this for all usernames.
Open C:\Windows\Prefetch, select all and delete.
Open My Computer, right click Local disk C: and choose properties, then disk cleanup. Check all boxes except compress old files and OK.
Uncheck the /safeboot box in msconfig and ok to reboot.

Note: If while trying to work with renaming the above files you might need to do ALT CTRL DEL and end those task before renaming them.

Run another HijackThis scan and post the log.
Not finished yet. We might have to delete some more files / folders.
