I would like to know how to disable a pf file that someone has installed in his computer to be able to run a program after I had disabled that program from Active Directory.
    Thanks.

First question that comes to mind is, "why are you trying to stop a person from running his own shortcut to his own program on his own computer, in the first place?

You haven't provided enough detail, for one to decide if this is ethical, legal or advisable.

    Oppsy,
Sorry, I see (or I could see if I had glasses) that that is a query on a PF and I assume "prefetch" listed file. I thought it said was a pif as in shortcut. Still....a little more of the particulars would help.

Sorry once again, as I scrounge around trying to remember where I put my darn glasses....

Crico - Welcome to the Board :)

*.pf files - C:\Windows\Prefetch - files that Windows stores relating to recently used applications to speed up access. All can be safely deleted, Windows will rebuild as and when required so simply deleting the appropriate file for that program should do the trick. Rather than deleting you could change the extension to .old or hide it. Not sure what effect Read only would have, but may be effective.

More details re. Prefetch and a few tweaks here ....

If the program you disabled is enabled again Windows will make another .pf file the first time it is used, assuming prefetch is enabled.
