I have tried to uncheck the Google Toolbar in my Startup menu. I have done this with other items and they remain unchecked, but the Google Toolbar keeps coming back as checked!! What can I do to keep it unchecked? OS: Vista Home Prem, IE 8. Thanks.

Is the Lock the Toolbars checked when you uncheck the Google Toolbar ?

If so Uncheck the Lock the Toolbars and Uncheck the Google Toolbar.
Close IE and then reopen IE and Check Lock the Toolbars again.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Or go to Tools > Internet Options > Click on the Programs Tab.
Then Click on Manage Add-ons. This will open another Window.
In the drop down to the right of Show:
Choose Add-ons curently loaded in Internet Explorer
Find the Google Toolbar and Disable it.

Hi Bigalx58. If you don't want to disable the google toolbar but remove it altogether from your computer then click Start< Control Panel< Uninstall a Program. When the uninstall a program window comes up find the google toolbar in the list of programs and click remove.

I just noticed that I identified the Toolbar incorrectly. It is the Google Toolbar Notifier that I was talking about. I did find it as sp3851 suggested and disabled it. It did not re-appear in the Startup menu afterward I unchecked it...mission accomplished! Thanks
