personal (desktop) search engine ?

anybody know something that can help to index selected hard drives for affordable time and affordable summary index space that I could search over all selected drive by keyphrase etc.? I want something similar to search engine - only local version. desktop engine...

any suggestions?

don't suggest google desktop search and yahoo desktop search - i tried and don't like them.

 

Copernic Desktop Search I've never used it personally but all I've read and heard about it is good. I believe it's free.

Although they do mention Archivarius 3000 which is shareware.

I don't know anything personally about any of these but am just passing a long a link that apparently ran bench mark tests and comparsions on such and are listing their recommendations. Perhaps the page will lead to something useful and to your liking.
