Problem: Setting up "scan to network folder" from HP printer to WIN7 computer
Error message: "You do not have permissions to write to the selected folder "
    1) I changed my user account from administrator to standard, per microsoft instructions.
    2) In the security tab of the "network folder" I created to receive the scans there are 5 user names: everyone, system, Will, administrators, WMPNetworkSvc I gave them all full control, even "everyone" Still, I get the same message.
    3) I also tried running the printer software as "administrator." Same message.

Why does MS make operating your computer so complicated and frustrating?

it was a firewall issue. the printers url was added to the firewalls accepted list.
