    Hi..

Running Communicator 4.79 on WinMe and my inbox is telling me it cannot be opened: "Can't open inbox. You may not have permission to write to this file. Check the permissions and try again later. "

I can however open and read the subfolders of my inbox.

Is there a quick fix for this? Ramona? Are you still here?

    Thank you.

    Hey there!

    Hello Teal,

You bet I'm still here, just hanging around, waiting to help my Netscape cohorts.

For your problem: check to see if any of your Mail file attributes are set to "Read Only" If so, disable, and you should be up and running.

Post back and let us know if this helps!

    Update

    Fixed it.

A cold reboot - after a bad start and auto scan disk, which I think caused the problem - fixed it.

    Oh the joy of Windows!

Btw, it also told me upon attempting to copy my user folder that there was a sharing violation. God only knows what scan disk does.

    Hi Ramona..

Thanks for the speedy reply. I actually checked to see if it was read only prior to posting, also checked my prefs file and a bunch of other nifty things...... all to no avail.

I was going to wipe out my inbox file, but tried to copy it first. However, it told me I could not do that as there was a sharing violation.

So I did a cold reboot, and got myself a Pepsi while I waited.

    That did the trick.

Prior to the problem, one of my other programs crashed.. netscape was also running. I attempted to reboot, but had to shut down the bad way and upon restart, Windows did it's auto scan disk. It was after that point and prior to a cold reboot that this happened to my inbox.

    Go figure.

    Teal,

    I like your solution.
