    Hi All,

I am running Vista RC1, (I missed out on the RC2 download), on two separate machines both of which have a score of 2.0 and Aero runs OK I think.
My question is - How can the score be boosted without too much expense?
    BOAC 1
Athlon 64 3500+ on an Asus A8V-X mobo with 2 GB DDR memory and an nVidia GeForce 6200 with 256 MB memory.
    BOAC 2
Sempron 2200 on an Asrock K7V74A-Pro with 1 GB DDR and an nVidia GeForce 5500 with 128 MB memory.

    Individual scores:

    Athlon / Sempron Scores

    Processor 4.1 / 2.8
    Memory 4.9 / 4.1
    Desktop 2.0 / 2.0
    3D graphis 2.6 / 2.5
    Primary HD 5.3 / 5.2

I understand most of the differences but what I can't understand is that there is practically no difference in the graphics score, and none in the desktop scores.

What is the primary factor retarding the desktop and graphics scores? I thought that it would be the graphics cards, but apparently not.
    Anybody know?

    Roger:confused:

For the Desktop (Graphics) score it is the ability to run Aero (glass).
For the 3D Graphics scores it is the suitability for the requirements of Directx 10.

. Check with Windows Updates, apply any updates found
. Check with the computer manufacturer to see if a Vista compliant BIOS upgrade has been done
. Upgrade the Video adapter drivers. They are being updated nearly weekly for Vista.

Thanks for the response Bill. Downloaded the latest beta driver for Vista from nVidia, 96.85 forceware, but it won't install - says "Only for Vista - wrong OS" or words to that effect, then the installer shuts down.
I'll have to stick with level 2 for now.
