PCI serial controller

    I am running Win98SE and in device manager have a ? on other devices with PCI serial controller - drivers for this device are not installed code 28. I have two device in PCI slots in the machine and the devices are working fine. What do I do with this?

    Hi lhoepner,

    You can try highlighting it and click the Remove button. Windows should prompt you to reboot. When it is rebooting make a note (if it trys to install again) if it may be related to another piece of hardware or their drivers. If it comes back and you still cannot identify it, it should not hurt to just leave it there. You may be able to identify it in the future.

    If any other hardware is acting up you may need to reinstall or update the drivers for those, then suddenly Windows will be able to identify and install the correct drivers for the "PCI serial controller ".

    Check on the motherboard CD that should have come with the computer in case some extra drivers may need to be installed.
