I have an Adaptek 2940 PCI SCSI host adapter. Because of its age I have been told it does not work well with XP. I guess that is true because I am having difficulties with my Sony tape drive. I am looking on eBay for a replacement and would like any recommendations anyone has. I am currently looking at a Tekram 20MB/sec Ultra.

Whatever I get needs to have a 50-pin internal connector. Since it is only a tape drive for backups, speed is not the prime consideration but reliability and price are. TIA.

Check out this card from Adaptec:

SCSI Connect 2904 - has a 50 pin internal connection, but not too sure re. XP compatability - check the Adaptec site.

Installed one of these recently on a PC for use with a Nikon Scanner - no problems, but Win 98. Price in GB is ~£35 ($52 ?)
