I have an Asus A7N8X deluxe motherboard, AMD Athlon XP Processor. New BIOS, Windows XP Pro.

The BIOS is set to boot from CD before going to the drive 0, my C: drive.
They always look at the floppy drive first, no matter what, I think.

I cannot boot from either. But both work when I am in windows. My Computer sees both drives.

    What on earth.... ?

I had a look on the Asus forum. I saw some questions that were also nVidia chipset boards with the same problems, but could not navigate around the forum (then got "the sever is busy" message as usual).

I suggest you look through your manual. See what boot options are available and try resetting them a few times to different settings and rebooting in between.

Look for a menu "Load Setup Defaults ", set that.

You say it is a new BIOS. Would it be possible that a "Beta" BIOS version was installed? It was the correct BIOS? There is also a A7N8X-E deluxe model.

I would try disconnecting the cables to each of the drives and boot without them. Shutdown and reconnect them again.

Is it possible that the floppy or CD disks are not readable?
