    Hi,

I am having some trouble with my PC. It is an Intel CeleronD. For some reason after a certain time my PC is just switching off. After switching off if I attempt to re switch on the PC it will not boot up. However when switching off and on the power supply the computer will switch on. Can it be the power supply is going bust?

Happy Christmas and Happy New Year.

    Regards

    Alan

Just for other areas to consider, check that fans are all spinning freely, dust has been cleaned out? Heat problems can cause shutdown (is it associated with using something "intensive ", like graphics for games?), although you seem to associate it with time, rather than a particular task.

Something like a fan "burning out" can upset the voltages. If the BIOS thinks that the CPU fan has stopped, it will shut-down.

There should be voltage readouts in the BIOS/Startup settings. If you have many devices connected, try disconnecting them.

The switching on/off may be resetting the power supply, it may otherwise be resetting the "system ".

    Matt
