PC not showing up in RWW on SBS 2003 R2

I have an issue where a computer is not showing up in the connect to computer list although it is currently registered in active directory. The client was originally in the list with a different name. I dropped it from the domain into a workgroup and renamed the pc then rejoined the domain without using the connect computer site. Later on the user explained that the system is not showing in the connect to computer list in RWW.

I've tried disjoining and re-joining the domain in the same way as before and still I have not been able to get it in the list. Typically I do not use the connectcomputer site, is there any caveat to doing that in this case?

Anyone have any ideas or experience similar phenomena?

 

I'd check that you've removed the old computer object from active directory and look for loose ends in DNS. Also if you have WINS running, run a scavenge job to clear out old references.
