pc has stated slowing down

Hi
Can anyone help? I have a pentium 4 ,1.5,40gb,128memory pc that i upgraded to xp before christmas (no probs there)but now for some reason it has started slowing down not on the net but just general function like going into files I have added ad-aware and defraged it as well it has cured it a little but some function are still slow when i go into microsoft outlook it takes ages to load up and then ages to send a message.

Does anyone have any suggestions please????

Have you dumped your temporary internet files and all temp files lately?

If so, try taking the case off, putting a fan on the PC, and running that way. If it helps, you have heat problems due to a bad fan, dirty filters, dust bunnies on the mother board, or similar.
