Hi, my pc (win xp pro SP2) does not see anymore my sony psp.
Since last saturday windows started to say that it was an unknow device or that i need to plug it to an USB 2.0 (thats the only ports I have), then now it does not even see it.
Only last night after removing all drivers for the usb ports I was able to see my psp but for less than a minute, then it said that it could not install my device properly and that was all, it could not see it anymore, I tried with 2 differentes cables already.
    I never had problems before.
im sure it is a windows problem , not my psp.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you

    Hello caraloca,

Since last saturday windows started to say that it was an unknow device or that i need to plug it to an USB 2.0
I would try using System Restore to restore back prior to Saterday. If that works, then it is a system file that's to blame or some change made to the system.

If it doesn't, then the issue may be hardware.

    Regards - Charles

    Hi caraloca,

I thought about restore, but I will lost all my work since then.
What work? If .doc - .txt - or media files, not monitored by SR.

Pete posted this thread http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=51273 and as the reference source points out, My Documents folder is left alone. If some or all your files are monitored, then moving them to My Documents into a sub folder created for the purpose will leave them untouched.

And from MS - files that are monitored:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/sr/sr/monitored_file_extensions.asp

Any application that's been installed or any MS Updates will have to be done again.

    Regards - Charles

per Google, your problem is shared by many. Try this simply solution ....
Also mentioned was PSP is a power hungry device. Should use back USB port(s) on computer, not ports on front of computers. Some have had success using an external powered USB hub (can you borrow one for testing).

Also, can you attach PSP to a different computer known to work with PSP / USB connectivity.

    UPDATE
Can you borrow any USB connected type device to test your USB port (flash, thumb drive). In most cases when attaching to XP, no special drivers are needed.

It did not work for me, but minutes ago I found in another forum that somebody having the same problem is using this software Autorun USB v1.4 and now he can connect his psp to his pc.
Ill check if it works for me.
Thank you all for the help.
