I now have Windows XP with Microsoft Outlook Express 6...and have my options set to "send" messages in Plain Text...I do a lot of genealogical look ups and copy info I find to paste in body of "new message "...but it is not "pasting" in plain text - as I want it to...on my old computer - Windows ME with Outlook Express (cannot remember version) - I could copy any type of info and when I pasted it to body of "new message" it would appear as "plain text "...how do I get copying & pasting back to "plain text "??? am I missing something or am I just stuck with this problem??

    Thanks for your time!!

You are copying and pasting HTML if your source is from a web site and that is how it will appear in the new message pane. However when you send in plain text the message will be seen by the recipient as plain text.

I just tried this - copied a page from a web site, pasted into a new message - showed up as HTML - sent the message as plain text to myself and it arrived as plain text :)

    thanks for your reply!

that is how i am dealing with the problem...

but am trying to figure out how to get the "pasting" to appear as plain text on my "new message" - as it did on my previous version of "outlook express "...

since all the HTML features will be sent as "attachments "...

would be very appreciative of any suggestions...

Unless you updated OE when running Me you probably had OE 5 or 5.5 which may well have been different in this area. It's such a long time since I used 5.5 that I do not recall any detail.

My best guess it that you will have to live with it :)
