I recently purchased a second hand penium 4 computer at auction. When I got it home I found that it is password protected. The machine belonged to the state education department and requires the user to log on after pressing cntrl alt delete.

Is there anyway I can get arond this requirement to enter a password?

    Cheers

    GM

I was thinking that I could upgrade to Win XP. Would this work?

I actually bought two machines. The second already runs WIN XP and has the same log in problem.

If I bought and loaded a new copy of WIN XP for this machine. Would that work?

I am a bit ****** off because the auction description specifically says that Win 2000 and Win XP were loaded on these machines, and it Didn't say anything about them being password protected. Leson be careful when buying at auction.

    Posting Rule #6 ....
FYI - A format of the disk will obviously wipe out everything.

Any further questions unrelated to passwords in a new thread please.
