Is there a way to protect an EXCEL workbook's access with a PASSWORD and USERNAME? I have Department heads that need this security aspect but yet work on clients that other emplyees have full access to. That want to maintain these spreadsheets but limit all but there ability to review and alter
    data. Thanks, S

In Excel 2003 see if Tools > Protection offers what you want. I don't have an earlier version loaded now.

If you are on a domain and especially if the workbooks are stored on a file server using NTFS, you can do what you want via the regular OS security without needing to worry with the application's security features if all you need is a can read/can't read, can change/can't change sort of security.
