I just found out that Google Chrome doesn't allow a master password to open up the saved password feature.

I know that Firefox does have a master password feature. I have been using KeyPass to store financial passwords, and every time I fire up this program I'm wondering if this is doing any good. The words of security guru Bruce Schneier ring in my head, that as far as computer security is concerned, simpler is better, and by introducing another track (a program that manages my passwords) I'm wondering if this is improving my security or making them more vulnerable (than simply using a browser with a master password feature).

What do people here think of these two options? Which is safer?

Sorry, but I'm not going to write down passwords to financial sites on a piece of paper anywhere near my computer.

Safer than being on your PC. Don't keep them near your PC. Keep them in a drawer and not in a folder marked passwords. It is way harder to hack a piece of paper than a PC or web site.
