Someone earlier in this board had reccomended I try PowerQuest Partition Magic to create a new partition to my WIN 98 machine before I attempt to install a dual boot partition to WIN 2000 professional. I downloaded this demo version of Partition magic version 8 and it will not let me do anything. It seems that it is a pretty piece of junk to be used as window dressing.

Is there any alternative to buying the full version since I only need to use this software once?

As we used to say in Las Vegas, "First your money, then your clothes "

It's true, you do get what you pay for. Try nothingbutsoftware.com. You usually can buy a disk only version for a lot less money especially if you get last year's version.

I bought last years and it is fine because the program is pretty much self explanitarium.:)

    Thinking outside the box ...

I heard others say that using FDISK command will work perhaps. My new 60 gig hard drive has all kinds of blank space, and I was coinsidering partitioning the first partition at 20 gig and the second partition at 37 gig (or what ever is left). Can FDISK take care of that for me?

    Morning Gerald,

F-disk and format will erase all the info on the disk. If you want to start over, that may be the way to go. If you need to save whats on there now, then Part Magic is the way to go.

My disk came with Boot magic on it also and is the way to go if you want to make a dual boot system.

I personally would make a partition of 3 gigs for the OS (win98se) and another 4gig primary for win 2000 pro. (I have heard that you should install 98 first). Then other partitions as you require.
