Hi All! It seems that problems keep building up for me!

I used: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=313348 in trying to FORMAT my hard drive. I have a 250GB hard drive and when I got the computer the C: Properties displayed this amount as the total space. The followed the procedure listed above and went ahead in trying to format my computer. It worked, everything was formatted, EXCEPT NOW my C: properties tells me I have 127GB available. When i entered the "BIOS" setup when the computer boots, it gave me the information that the hard drive in fact has a capacity of 250GB. WHY would it not display the full hard drive amount? I spoke with a computer technician and he told me its because i haven't installed Windows XP SP2. Could that be the reason? Right now im just running the original windows XP!

A quick response to this post would be GREATLY appreciated, i need to get on with my daily life with the comp!:D

rsinfo, the link you sent me only applies to those running the ORIGINAL windows i've now installed service pack 2! Should i uninstall and try that solution(listed above)? If not, what else can I do, this seems to be addressing my problem, but it isn't much of an option right now!

Hope you/others can find something else!

    Godspeed!

I'd try the format process again and look for any dialogue which refers to the format size you want to apply. It may be coming back with a size which will in fact only format it to the one you are getting. The dialogue may be in the form od "percentage ", if so make sure to set it at 100%...

Look in Disk Management and you will probably now see the rest of the drive as unallocated space. If not run this little app to check that LBA support has been enabled by SP2.

If the rest of the disk is now present then you can either partition and format it with Disk Management and use it as a separate data partition. Or if you have something like Partition Magic you can resize the XP partition to use all of the drive.

The other option is to slipstream SP2 onto your XP CD and then install Windows again.

All good advice. The Disk Management option is a good one.....But once again, watch for the partition percentage dialogue.
