My laptops hardrive is partitioned into two volumes. I want to use the second (D) as MY MUSIC folder. I've copied the files over to this volume, how do I make the MY MUSIC folder in MY DOCUMENTS link to this? do i just delete it and add a shortcut?

also - how do i change it in my XP start menu?

In Windows Explorer, expand the tree to show the contents of the My Documents folder in the right panel.

Right-click and drag-drop the My Music folder to D:. When releasing the right-click, choose move here.

If You´re lucky, it will default to the new location.

The simplest way is to download TeakuiXP - this is for XP + SP1.

In TweakuiXP go to My Computer > Special Folders where you will be able to change the location of My Music folder.

    Hi jonboygriffiths,
I wonder why you want to do this?

But, anyway, all the above suggestions work and are good methods.

I just want to mention another method if, and only if, your c: drive is NTFS formatted. You can empty out your MY MUSIC folder in MY DOCUMENTS and then mount your d: drive onto the MY MUSIC folder. This would link you d: partition to MY MUSIC. Any files copied to c:\my documents\my music would actually be copied to d:\

If you're interested in this method and would like a more detailed post, let us know.
