I was in the process of going to delete a partition then create a partition on a Pc so that i can reinstall a fresh copy of Windows when the WIndows XP disc failed. I was able to delete the partition and my disc crashed. when i rebooted the Pc with the unpartition disc, the new Windows XP disc doens't detect the drive.
How can i create a partition on this disc?
I do not have any software for the hard drive.

    Need help..
    Bill

If are rebuilding the "whole" HDD, not just one partition of several, you can use the drive manufacturer's setup utilities.

If you do not know the brand/make of the drive, you will need to look at the information on the label. You should be able to put the model number and the terms setup utility into a websearch and find them. (These will be the "software" you mention.)

If you have a floppy disk drive, making the floppy disk utilities may be a little easier than making a boot CD.

If you have trouble finding them, post back with the drive's model number.

what i found was on the windows OS disc is when the process stops you have the option of pressing F3 for Recovery console which brings you to a DOS prompt from there type HELP and some of the old DOS commands are there to use.
the one for partitioning is now called diskpart.

i was able to partition the disk at that point.
    thanks for everyone suggestions.
