Partioning drive containing OS

    I want to divide a single 140 gb HDD containg OS in c: drive into 2 drives. The system has only c drive in it and also i don't want to format the hdd.

    In XP you will have to use third party software to make a new partition without reformatting the drive. In Vista and 7 there is a facility built into Windows do do this.

    I wouldn't be without Acronis Disk Director.
    Not only did I increase my C Drive (OS) by taking 5GB from another partition (5 in total) but I split one partition in 2.
    Great software.

    Use PartImage - brilliant tool and easy tool to use.
    As PeteC says, tho "ensure to back up your critical data" before proceeding with partitioning.
