    Hi Thomas

    What versio( flavor) of windows
and what office program are you taling about , what fix also ?
You are talking about microsoft paint right?

You could try uninstalling paint and reinstalling
Go into control panel addremove programs -windows setup
in there I think its under accessories, uncheck it click apply then OK go back and add it. though if youve reloaded windows this might not work either..let us know.

this is ms paint on windows 98
i tried the uninstall and reinstall to no avail
this problem started when i treid to edit the 3d maze screen saver
    it worked for a while
the office program i use is office 2000
i downloaded a "fix" and it put a mfc42.dll on my screensaver along with a msvcrt.dll and Olepro3.dll file they are on my desktop and im suppose to copy them to the system files but dont know where to put them
the problem is all the dropdown boxes work EXCEPT the "file "
it just prompt me to go to "help "
the fix refered to a conflict with office 97 and not 2000 so it might not apply.

    worked for a while

i read a mfc42.dll error on neo napster when i donwnlaoded the file to fix paint.... a mfc42.dll file the neo napster stopped opening when i fixed the napster the paint problem came back...so i suspect it is a problem with the mfc42.dll or the filters..the bug appears on paint when you past a jpg of gif pictuce to paint....
i will go to the sites you listed and look around

Right click on My Computer and select Explore.

On the left side of the screen

Click on the + sign next to drive C:

Click on the + sign next to Windows

    Click on the System folder

Locate the 3 files on the right side of the screen and rename them to something like 'oldmsvcrt.dll', this way you just have to rename them again if you find you need them.

Click on Desktop (left side of the screen).

On the Right side of the screen, while holding the ctrl key down, click on the 3 files you want to move and drag them to the System folder on the left side.
