I use either a desktop pc or a laptop pc depending on which part of the house I'm in. I use W95/IE 5/OE 5.5 on my desktop and W98/IE6/OE6 on my laptop. I've no problems with my desktop setup. When I go online with my laptop I have no problems at first either. However, after surfing through a few websites I eventually get a 'Page unavailable or you may need to adjust your browser settings' message. My OE also ceases to download messages. It might appear as if I've been disconnected from my ISP, but when I place the cursor over the connection icon it tells me the usual 'bytes sent, bytes received' details. So, I'm still connected to my ISP but my browsing and email facility has been terminated. I deal with this by disconnecting from my ISP and reconnecting again, which gives me a further period of trouble-free browsing until the 'Page unavailable' situation occurs again. Has anyone any idea what might be happening here and how I might be able to correct it? I'd be much obliged. Thank you.

This has been gone over many times on this and other boards.

The only thing I found that helped at all was to disable any unused NIC card that may be in you computer.

It does the same thing in IE 5.5. I finally got DSL and am waiting for it to happen. So far I'm humming along just fine.

You might do a search on this BBS for "Modem Hangs" and see if anything applies.

Thanks, Bill. Will do as you suggest.
