My 2.8 runs (in celcius) around mid to late 30's on idle. A 3.0 should be similar. Occasionally in the low 30's if the ambient temperature is cooler, as it's getting this time of year. :(

Maximum operating temperature is well above 60 or 70. I think I've reached late 40's. Not being an avid gamer I haven't really pushed it yet.

Actually I may have overstated the temperature a little as I haven't checked it in a while. After 1 hour on and a little surfing and a CDRW format, CPU is showing 22C (72F), Motherboard is 25, Case also 25 and SATA HD is 33. That's almost chilly. ;)

heh, mine 3ghz is running now at 25, turned it on a few mins ago, so everythin like usualy gets a beating when you 1st turn on... i.e. load everything then open IE to go to the fourms, check hotmail, outlook, msn convos, so CPU would work quite hard there... it ranged about 24-29 during that. playing games goes late 30's usually maayb 41 or 2 which seams resonable?

what kinda cooler do u use?

Standard P4 rated CPU Fan. But I have a heck of a lot of other cooling...
Hear goes... 80mm side (LED lit :D ) fan in the perspex side. 80mm blower fan in top of case. 80mm fan in front of the SATA 120GB drive blowing air towards the rear of the case. PSU fan. North bridge fan. Graphics fan.
Yes it is a little noisy as well. But she don't overheat ;)

Hence the need for a fan in front of the HD's. ;)
