When I am composing a message, and looking at the keyboard I frequently look up to what I have typed and find I have lost it , and a new message has started with only my last words on it. It happens here too - so it is not just Live Mail.
    Any help ?

A couple of shortcuts could cause this, but none common to both Live Mail and Browsers as far as I know.

Commonly a browser would react to F5 (refresh) and lose your previously typed response, whereas Ctrl-N in a browser would bring up a new window/tab with your home screen. In Live Mail Ctrl-N would start a new message but leave your previous message behind the (new) active window.

I'm fairly sure it's a shortcut issue though and you're inadvertendly pressing Ctrl instead of shift.

Doh, Ctrl-A (select all) would fit your description perfectly.

After select all any alphanumeric/symbol key would overwrite all the text you'd previously typed. Any chance you've accidentally hit Ctrl-A instead of Shift-A?

I did not think I was doing any of these things, but then I think I don't often hit the wrong key - yet I always have to read what I have typed and make corrections, so maybe I was.
However in the extreme form, which was happening when I posted yesterday, I was having to start all over half a dozen times on even a short message . After shutting down and re-booting, that seems to have gone away, so I shall try and take more care, and mark this thread as resolved.
    Thanks for help.
