    Hello, thank you in advance.

I have an apparently corrupt photo cd from one of the picture processing firms.
It tries to load Ritz Pix E-Z Print & Share 2.0 but the program just hangs my computer without ever starting. Task Manager doesn't recognize the program as running, and the program won't allow a shut down or restart so I have to do a hard boot.

Question is, How do I override the cd (D:\) autostart feature so I can get into the photo library with another program?

Windows Help is helpless, I couldn't pinpoint it in the Control Panel, and I couldn't seem to find anything helpful on the internet.

Here's to hoping somebody has a quick easy solution for me.

    Thank you,
    Perry

An update, tried the "hold shift button" technique when loading cd, but end up with an I/O error that reads:

    "D:\ is not accessible
The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error "

In My Computer, Right click the drive letter in question and select the auto play tab. This will stop the drive from trying to play when media is inserted.

This will not stop the "D:\ is not accessible
The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error ". Try another disk to see if it is just that disk.

If it is the same, then a cable check is in order. (may have come loose). Then you may have to remove the drive in Device manager and let windows install the drive back on a reboot.

    Thank you BMoore, Wrong OS

    Thank you BMoore,

I think the process you mentioned is XP only, don't seem to be able to find any such operation on this 2000 Professional system.

Anybody else got an idea for me?

Do I really have to go into the registry to turn off the AutoRun? Is there a windows based program that will help me do it? I'm extremely fearful of going into the registry.

As for the I/O error, it only happens when I shift while loading. Other CDs work fine.
