Up until Windows XP, I kept option to DOS boot from A: so I could destroy files that Win would not or could not. I recently discovered that XP and IE can allow save-to-disk of files longer than XP can completely handle, or with strange characters, so I can neither delete them nor rename them. This also means that folders with such files cannot be deleted.
Because XP forced me into NTFS, I can no longer DOS boot and force things to be right. The only work around I have made to date is to create a folder "_corrupted" into which I can drag files and folders that are cluttering my PC directories. I don't regain the space.
Can anyone tell me how to destroy such corrupted files, folders?
    thnx

You probably do not realize that XP can be installed on FAT32 or NTFS. You do NOT have to use NTFS with XP. There really will be no drawbacks to using XP on FAT32.
