    Hey folks:

I think we have asked this before - but never got any answers !

    So, here it is again:

    1. We use Microsoft Outlook Express.
    2. We create great e-mail. Backgrounds, embedded music, gif and jpeg graphics and all that.

    3. However, we get a couple of e-mails that puzzle us:

    A. One of the e-mails has a graphic that resembles a Java Script file.
It is a cursor that is followed by a string of letters etc and moves with the cursor until we stop - then the month, date and time are displayed.
Now, just how did they insert that into an e-mail ?

    B. The other is an e-mail with a "static" background - and the test scrolles
(Like a Java script file) with the down arrow at the right. But the picture remains static.
Now, how did they do that via e-mail ?

Via Web Page we understand - but e-mail !

Any ideas - sure would like to do that with Outlook Express !

If you use HTML format for email, you can use most anything that will work on a web page.

How the receiver sees it will depend on what is on their PC though.

    OK, so now what ?

    Thanks for the reply.

Now, we got plenty of script examples. The couple you provided, and lots more from the internet.

    However, by basic question is:

    1. I got this script that has words following my cursor.

    2. Works fine as long as we are on line.

    3. Now, I can save the source code via Microsoft Wordpad or Notepad.

    4. And read it. Thereafter we are lost !
We can read the code and understand it - but don't know how to use it.

    That is my problem.

How can we use it ?

You state "If you use HTML format for email, you can use most anything that will work on a web page. "

What are the steps in accomplishing that task?

Others do it - I get e-mail that is proof.

I am a simplemention - you say I can do it - however, please let me know how.

    Thanks

If the clock is an attachment, you should be able to download it to your harddrive, and run it from there. If it is an insert, you may not be able to download it and you must be on the internet to use it.
Unless you want to modify the clock (which except for the colors used is not adviseable), there is no need to fuss with the source code. Just click on the .htm file (again, if you can download it).
All this assumes that the clock is an .htm file, which it must be if it moves. When you see the source code, you are viewing a .txt file with the code for the clock, but a .txt file cannot produce the moving clock. If you can Save the source code (perhaps as whatever.txt), but not the .htm file, then do so and Rename the whatever.txt file to whatever.htm. You will get a warning, but ignore it (say Yes). The new .htm file should show you the moving clock when you click on it.

Have you tried copying the code into notepad, then choosing file/ save as
    under file name choose
    "Clock.html" (With the quotes)
and file type as all files

Then you go to OE tools/ options/ stationary and add this web page you made as a stationary?
