My computer is running on Win 7 (64bit) and has MS Office 2010 which includes MS Outlook 2010, version 14.0.6023.1000(32 bit).

My email service provider has send server with POP3 and "mail.pppp.net ". [the addresses in this post are fictional, just to explain the problem] My email service provider has a receive server operating on "smpt.pppp.net ". For me to receive emails in Outlook, my friends and others can send them to my address leem@pppp.net.

But I prefer for people to send emails to me via a proxy server which fowards the email messages to my email service provider. That is, my friends know my proxy address to be mithc@xxxx.com; a message sent there is immediately forwarded to my service provider's incoming message server at my address leem@pppp.net. So I get the message right away by accessing my service provider via Outlook.

I have manually put into Outlook the "account settings" for the account which uses the email address leem@pppp.net. In the "reply to" box I have put in the proxy address mitch@xxxx.com. Yet, when I compose and send an email message, and friends or others see the message, it shows at the top the service provider address adjacent my name as the sender, and it DOES NOT SHOW the "reply to" address. How can I make it show the "reply to" address and NOT my service provider address?----------Thanks for your help-----Lee M

Thanks for the reply, Bill. I went to the link you gave me; I followed the instructions there; but they did not work at all;---not just for the single message I composed and sent after entering the "reply to" address, nor for a permanent change which would apply to all future emails I will send.
But I will follow your tip to google for other techniques to make the emails I send show the "reply to" address of my proxy.

I suppose my question might be better expressed:
I have an email account in Outlook which uses my ISP to send and
receive email messages. I have correctly entered all the needed
information into the Outlook "account settings" for that account.
In the "Reply To" box of the "account settings" I have entered
an address which is different from my ISP's account address. But when
I send emails that "reply to" address does not show at the top of the
messages. What must I do in "account settings" to make the "reply to "
    funtions work correctly?

Thanks again, Bill. Let me know if you have further thoughts.----Lee

I think that you will need to create another user so that the reply to address is it. Then you can choose that address to send. If I am understanding this right. Sometimes I even confuse myself...

I'm guessing you're missing the 'FROM' field in your emails.
To enable it click on "˜New" to open a new email.
Then the Options tab "“ and click on "˜Show From’

The From field will now show up in all emails.
Type in the address you want shown.
Better yet put it in your contact list so you can enter it with just a click.

You'll still need to keep the reply to part.

ephe: Thanks for the tip, but it does not work for me on my Outlook 2010. I opened a "new" screen as if I were going to compose and send an email. Then I clked on "options" and then I saw nothing about "show From ". At the right end of the top ribbon, there was a "Reply To" that you can clk on, but that doesn't work at all.
I am begining to believe you simply cannot make Outlook show a Reply To address at the top of ALL of the emails you compose and send. Woe is me!----Lee

    All is not lost. :)

It’s there "“ guess it says "˜Show From’ in Outlook 2007 (what I have) and just says "˜From’ in 2010.
Open link Mr. Bill provided in post #2.

Scroll down to where Direct Replies To is circled in red.
Then look to the left: Options tab: "˜From’ button "“ just to right of Bcc button. Says Show Fields on bottom.

Eph: Thanks for staying with me. I did what you said. Then UNDER the bcc buttons there appears a gray wording "show fields ". Clicking on the gray words does nothing.
clicking on one of the bcc buttons returns you to the New message compose screen.

Just to the right of the bcc rectangle is a blank rectangle except in the bottom of the blank rectangle it a gray word "permission ". Clicking on that word does nothing.
    Woe is me!----Lee

    Looks like problem is pinpointed.
You need that "˜From’ field to show up "“ and it isn’t.

I have no idea why "“ unless you’re also using ms exchange.
Apparently then there’s a tools-options-delegate tab where you set permission to "˜send as’.

Might want to check if that tab exists anyway.
Might also want to log in as administer to see what happens.
But I’m guessing - since don’t have your software can’t check various possibilities.

Hopefully someone with Outlook 2010 can follow up.

Meanwhile you can seach for Outlook 2010 send as, Outlook 2010 enable from field.
Also try your Outlook help for those options.

Sorry - hate to almost get there - and fail :(

Thanks EPH! I think we are beating this horse [or post] to death. I don't know what "ms exchange" is or wether or not I have it. If it is an Add-In, how can I find it and delete it? Or, would you advise me to keep it or get it? How can I get it?
Maybe this is all too much trouble, since I can live and get along with out curing the problem.
I may try going to a Microsoft chat room to maybe get some explanation.

So THANKS VERY MUCH. You need not reply to this unless you just can't resist fiddling with this further.------------Lee
