I transferred all files from XP to Windows 7 with Microsoft's own "Windows Easy Transfer," using a "Belkin Easy Transfer Cable for Windows 7." Everything went smoothly.
I then re-installed all programs (I had expected to have to do that), including Outlook 2007.
After all that was completed, Outlook ran (and runs) fine, and it found the 2 pst files that I use (combined total size 7GB, with over 200 e-mail folders), EXCEPT: when sending messages, Outlook no longer completes e-mail addresses in the To, Cc and Bcc fields.
Microsoft will hopefully fix this bug in the near future, but here is an interim solution.
    1. Enter all your e-mail addresses into a Word file, semi-colon separated and without returns (one long string). Save the file somewhere; desktop might be easiest for quick access.
    2. Before you start Outlook for the day, open your Word file with addresses and put them into memory (Ctrl a, Ctrl c).
    3. Open Outlook and start a new message. Go to one of the address fields (To, Cc or Bcc) and enter Ctrl v - all your e-mail addresses will now be pasted in the address field you chose.
    4. very important: do nothing untill all addresses are underlined by Outlook. In my case, with many addresses, that takes up to 30 seconds or so.
    5. Once all addresses are underlined, delete the message. Do not save the message. Do not close Outlook.
    6. As long as Outlook remains open (I minimize it, but never close it), you will now be able to start new messages and Outlook will try to complete your To, Cc and Bcc fields for you.

Thanks for your info, I found it discussed HERE in 2007 as well.

The file in question is the NK2 file that allows autocomplete cache, located in %appdata%\Microsoft\Outlook to populate

Basically just locate your new (obviously small) NK2 file and copy its name in full
Then get your backed up NK2 file and give it the same name as the new one.
Close Outlook then copy your newly named NK2 file to %appdata%\Microsoft\Outlook overwriting the present one.

    Did that work?

Note: Outlook 2010 does not have the NK2 file anymore, its replaced by the new "suggested contacts" list, but that's a whole other story :)

Thanks. However, there is no NK2 file in my AppsData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook directory.

You don't need to private message me, if I'm online I'll get the reply email and you can just trust I'm on it ;) edit or later on - offline

    I said: %appdata%\Microsoft\Outlook

Not appsdata, or whatever you posted.

And if the file doesn't exist that means you (Outlook) have never saved any outgoing emails that have been cached in Outlook autocomplete cache
