Outlook Timing Out on Receive

I am intermittently getting time out errors when send/receive to my email servers through my ISP. Once started, cannot recover without re-booting PC's, then works ok for awhile. Timeout parameter set to 1 minute. Two PC's, one wireless (Linksys 8011-b), one Ethernet direct connect to access point/router (AccessPoint/Router on 1000kva ups). Broadband DSL to ISP provider. Both PC's run Win XP Prof. SP2, Office 2003. Both have same symptoms, wireless more so. Outlook has plugins on both machines. Running Norton Internet Security 2005 on both. Disabling plugins and Norton no help. Re-booting router is no help.

Re-booting PC and re-starting Outlook recovers and runs well for a time. Also get "connection interrupted on send" occasionally. Speed and error test on network to ISP looks good, no errors. IE web access never a problem.

Appears Outlook or some system service gets out of sorts and just can not recover.

I have run repair and completely re-installed Office, no help.

I am out of ideas on what variables to eliminate to isolate the problem. I've tried to recall what software I may have installed about the time this started to no avail. ISP can't seem to help either.

 

I've found 60secs is sometimes too short. try setting to 90secs or above. I would also check your mail in and out settings correlate correctly with what is required by your ISP and that all the syntax is exact.
