Outlook version 2002 SP3. Outlook is sending multiple copies of emails in my Out box. I cannot delete or move them to a different box. In fact I cannot move or delete any files in any of my boxes. When I try to delete I get the error message "Messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If it persists, restart Outlook." Restart doesn't fix it. When I try to move files, I get a box that says "Can't move the items." I have been using this version of Outlook for years without any problems.

    Welcome to WindowsBBS;)

It would be interesting to know what size your PST file is...If it's close to or over 2gigs in size - you'll need to delete a lot of stuff.

Do the emails that are stuck have any large file attachments?

One of the emails has a 6MB attachment. The other no attachment and is 142KB. I have 7302 Items in my Backup Inbox folder, and 2301 in my Inbox. I cannot delete no move any files per the error message and responses previously stated.

A Six meg attachment can be too large for some ISP's...either yours or the person you're sending too..

Unplug your network cable....Click the Send/Receive button - You'll get an error - after closing the error - try to delete or drag and move the mail out of the out box.

And - go to this location and look to see what size your PST file(s) is.

    C:\Documents and Settings\Your User Name\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

This is a "Hidden" folder so you will probably have to go into folder options to disable Hide file types...

Outlook sending mulitple emails cannot move or erase files from outbox

I ran inbox repair tool. It found no errors on my 1.83GB pst file.
I then tried to move and/or delete the files in my out box, to no avail.
    Status unchanged.

Size of my PST file is 1.83GB. You said i would have to delete a lot of items. I am happy to do that, but that is the problem. I cannot delete ormove any items in any of the folders in Outlook.

I finally was able to start deleting items, and the problem went away. As suggested, the Outlook PST file had reached it's limit 1.83GB. I tried to modify the file with the 6MB attachment in my out box, bu deleting the attachment, and then deleting the recipients. Finally when I tried to save it, I got an reeoe message saying the files had reached their limits, and I had to delete files using Shift-Delete to free up space. I did that, and all seems fine. Thanks.
