Outlook installation problems

    Hi
    I am no tech God so looking for help. I have bought a new desktop and managed to work out how to make a .pst contacts file for Outlook. That's done but where are all the old emails and how do I get them back? The email also "appears" to be correctly set up but when I sent a test message to it from my phone, nothing happpened so what could I need to do? I have repaired the email etc and checked the settings and they are all fine.
    Anyone? Thanks

    Please do not tag onto an existing thread - the problem in that thread is not the same as yours. Your post moved to a new thread.

    It is important to post your version of Outlook - the various versions are not all the same.
