Outlook Hangs on Send & Receive

    I have a HP Probook 4520s running Win 7 with Outlook 14.0.7153.5000. After starting, Outlook send & receive functions perfectly, once. After that, it will generally send OK but hangs on receive until it times out and I get a send/receive error. If I then restart Outlook, the situation is repeated. If I do a repair .pst operation, it will function perfectly, but only once more until I have to restart.

    Any suggestions of a fix would be welcomed.

    What kind of email account do you have, i.e. POP or IMAP?

    Usual causes of this issue:

    Your incoming / outgoing emails are being scanned by an anti-virus

    The Outlook Send & Receive job is being blocked by a firewall

    My email is POP.

    I'll check my antivirus software to see what it does about email. I presume the problem is not at my end as the first send/receive works OK.
