    Hi,
A friend of mine called today and said up to a few days ago she was able to open websites by just clicking on the hyper text name. Now all of a sudden when she clicks on a website, it seems to open and goes down to her taskbar. She tries to click on it and the website will not come up.

She didn't have her system restore on in her Windows XP so we couldn't restore her computer to before she had this problem.

If anyone has seen this problem earlier in Outlook Express, we would appreciate any suggestions.

    Thank you.

    Jean

larsonjean--This is the easiest fix for hyperlinks in OE not working--
IE Tools|Internet Options|Programs tab|is the box "Internet Explorer should check whether it is the default browser" checked? If not, check it|Apply, Reboot and when IE is started again, you should be asked if you want IE to be the default browser. Click Yes and with luck everything will be OK.
And then there are other solutions

    http://help.att.net/docs/use/email/msole/prb_xxx_w95-3x_e-mail-links-dnw.htm?platform=none
    However, you report
. That could be another problem. Could you explain in a little more detail "the website will not come up "?

    Hi Jim,

Thanks for your quick answer. I did pass on the information to my friend so I hope one of the fixes will correct the problem. I'll let you know if she is sucessful.

What I meant when I said, "the website will not come up" was that she told me when she clicked on the hypertext she would see the page down in her task bar next to the start menu. It looks like she had the web site minimzed but she said that when she clicked the tab nothing would come up.

I'll report back to you if she gets it fixed.

    Thanks for your help.

    Jean

larsonjean--Ask your friend what happens if she right clicks on one of those tabs and then Restore.
Also how long has it been since your friend cleaned out her cache? The simplest way to do that is IE Tools|Internet Options|General tab|Delete Files. Then Reboot. Can often do wonders!! :)
    Looking forward to hearing more.
    Good luck.

    Hi Everyone,

I finally got over to my friend's house to help her with her problem. We did several things that was suggested like clearing the temporary internet files and also going to the web site and did the following as suggested:
    RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start, click Run, type the following command in the Run dialog box, and then click OK:
    regsvr32 urlmon.dll
    2. Repeat step 1 for each of the following commands:

    regsvr32 mshtml.dll
    regsvr32 shdocvw.dll
    regsvr32 browseui.dll
    regsvr32 msjava.dll

It is now working properly and she is very happy. I think running those dll files really did the trick.

    Thanks for all the help.
