I had a problem (I thought) with my McAfee firewall settings. I could not enable or activate "Hawk for Outlook ". After leaving email with tech support at McAfee, they informed me that Outlook Express was not the same as Outlook, and Hawk only worked with Outlook. What is Outlook and how does it differ from OE? Thanks.

    Hi fireman#4!
Welcome to the boards. The simpliest way of explaining the difference would be to say that Express is for home use..and Outlook for mainly office work.as it's a more robust and feature filled app.

Outlook Express is a basic email client offered for free with Microsoft Internet Explorer and recommended for the ones who need to send few messages a week. Email can be sent and received from multiple accounts, it allows the use of HTML format and provides means for email filtering.

Microsoft Outlook 2000 is a full-featured PIM (Personal Information Manager). It is a component of the Microsoft Office 2000 suite of software programs, but it can also be bought separately from the whole Office package. The features of Outlook 2000 include a calendar, task manager, contacts manager, journal, notebook and the major benefit of using it with other MS Office programs.
