I use Netscape Messenger and RARELY use Outlook Express. The only time I do use it is when I want to experiment on various matters.

The other day I noticed when doing this I had about 147 messages coming through on OE and they were all from days before and I had already read them in Netscape Messenger.

I called my ISP and asked them if their recent upgrade could have caused a problem. The only thing they could come up with is that perhaps a huge graphic email caused my mail be back up on the server. That didn't make any sense to me and I hoped it would go away.

This morning after downloading my email, I checked OE. There were 167 messages from the past three or four days. Now I am wasting a lot of time downloading and deleting those already processed emails.

Is there a setting in OE that is casing this to happen and are there any ideas on how to stop this bizarre problem?

OE, has an option in Account Settings to "leave mail on server" so that you can get the same mail on different machines...Might look to see if Netscape has a similar option and disable it.

Netscape had that option. It was checked to leave messages on the server for 7 days. I've now un-checked it and will check later this afternoon to see if this did the trick.

Thanks so much for the help!
