:( I downloaded Hotbar for OE and IE, then removed the IE part, and used the Hotbar stuff to liven up messages I sent out with OE. After weeks of successfully using this procedure a long, complicated error message showed up when I tried to incorporate any of the Hotbar animations. So, I removed the remaining OE part of Hotbar. Unfortunately the regular OE toolbar disappeared with it, and none of the methods mentioned in other messages in this forum worked to get it back. i.e. right clicking in a blank spot and checking toolbar, or the steps one takes under layout. How do I get it back? Is there a way to reload OE from my Windows XP disk, or from a website somewhere?

Ouch! Over the past few years I've heard nothing but trouble about Hotbar. It's spyware. It's a pain in the you know what! You really need to get it totally off your machine! I'm giving you a link on how to do that. Once you remove it and reboot, your trouble may be over. I'm not sure, though. All I know is that Hotbar is NOT popular and causes more problems with OE than anything else out there.

Here is the link to remove Hotbar.

Holler back if you end up doing this and if it worked for you. If you don't like this anwser, then tell us that, too, and someone else will probably jump in with some other solutions.

    Good luck!

    :)

Thanks for your advice, which I followed to get rid of all vestiges of Hotbar from my computer. I rebooted, but unfortunately I still cannot bring up the OE toolbar. I even downloaded and installed OE, but the problem is still there. Any other ideas?

Assuming this is the "outlook bar ", located on the left side of outlook. Contains icons for inbox, outbox, sentitems, deleted items and draft items:
All of these panels [and toolbars, for that matter] are dragNdrop resizable. Are you sure you just haven't dragged a panel to far to the left and covered it up?
NOTE* the view/layout will have this listed as "outlook bar ".

Move the mouse until the icon changes to a two sided arrow and then you'll know you've found the dragNdrop [slide] "resizer ", for lack of a better description.

If this is in reference to the "oe bar ", the one that goes across the top, the same thing applies. These toolbars are dragNdrop both length wise and can be dragged onto another toolbar to combine all on one line.
Note*The view/layout will have this listed as "toolbar ".

Hmmmm. Not sure. I did some searching. Try this link:

    Repair IE and OE

I've been searching all over the MSKB and can't seem to find anything like your problem. Sure wish there was some way to find the exact question and answer in that place!

The only other thing I can think of to do is to run a disk cleanup and defrag. Sometimes that helps. If that doesn't work, let us know and hopefully someone else will jump in and have the answer. Sorry...:(

:) I tried all suggestions from this BBS and another, some of which were complicated and involved making registry changes and nothing worked. I accidently fixed the problem. I created a new identity in OE, and the toolbar was there in that second identity. Then I discovered that in switching from that second identity back to my main identity the toolbar had re-appeared in the main identity. I removed the second identity and everything is back to normal. I don't know why it worked but I thought I would pass this along in case others had the same problem.

Wow! Thanks for coming back and filling us in. It is strange how sometimes we find the answer by accident. Glad yours was fixed, however way it was.

    HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

    :)
