    Start-Search
Click Advanced options and check each of the below

    Search system folders
    Search Hidden files and folders
    Search Subfolders

    Then slide up to

Search for files or folders named

    in the search box
    type
    inbox.*

    then click search now

    Outlook Express

It's very likely that your inbox still exists and that OE has created a new one because the original is corrupt - thus OE opens the new inbox which is of course empty. For a solution go to www.microsoft.com/windows/IE/community/columns/filecorruption.mspx where you will find an excellent article on File Corruption, which also describes a message recovery program, available on www.oehelp.com/DBXtract/dbx0722501x.zip for $5. I know it works 'cos I've just used it to recover emails from a corrupted Saved Items file.
    Good luck!
